larsonpics > Horseshoe Bend is named for its horseshoe-shaped bend of the Colorado River.   Horseshoe Bend located about 5 Miles from the town of Page, Arizona on U.S. Route 89.  It is also known by the local Navajo Indians as "King Bend."   Access requires about a half-mile hike to the canyon edge.  The canyon immediately drops 1000 feet the the river.  There are no railings and visitors are cautioned against getting too close to the edge.  It's dangerous anywhere along the ledges.
